Today we got a first look at the refreshed Cache on Counterstrike 2, thanks to a tweet and 2 snapshots from one of the map creators and designers FMPONE.
The two photos released by FMPONE were in the middle of the map, one looking towards the garage on the T Side, and one facing towards Z on the CT side.
History
Cache has seen several changes in the past few years, it last received a major visual overhaul in October of 2019, when the map made a very large shift towards a green moss-stricken map. This was the first major visual overhaul since the maps’ release in August 2014, alongside the "ESL One Cologne 2014" update.
it was a long-awaited update as all the other maps at the time were being taken in and out of rotation for their visual update. Cache was removed from the active map pool in March of 2019, and the rework was completed 7 months later in October, being added to the steam workshop for testing by the community, 8 days later on the 18th it was added back to the official game by Valve.
Cache was among the first and only maps made by the community that were also added to the game. A map made for the original version of Counterstrike in 2004, and has been getting any update required to keep itself in the game.
Cache has now started construction to be added back to CS2, and when it does. I would also like to see it added back to the professional map pool, as this is personally one of my all-time favourite competitive maps.
For more information on the new Cache, I’m sure FMPONE will keep us up to date on Twitter, or myself once the information becomes public.
